Roxburghe House is a specialist Palliative Care Unit where care concentrates on symptom control for patients with long term illness. Volunteers have a valuable role to play in supporting the work of the unit.


Current opportunities

Roxburghe House is an NHS Specialist Palliative Care Unit in Aberdeen. Volunteer Drivers provide important help and are greatly appreciated. Using their own vehicle volunteers are required to provide a personal service supporting patients attending our Day Unit in Ashgrove Road. The Day Unit is currently open on Tuesdays and Thursdays but we are looking to expand our service and therefore require more team members to join us. Your availability does not need to be on a weekly basis as on occasion drivers may also be required to help visitors attend Roxburghe House, therefore if you would be interesting in registering on an ad hoc basis this would equally helpful. We are looking for positive, enthusiastic and friendly people who will feel comfortable driving patients from their homes to Roxburghe House and home again. •Mileage expenses will be reimbursed by the Friends of Roxburghe House •A clean, current driving licence is essential together with relevant MOT and vehicle insurance. •Relevant training and development may be available. •Applicants will be required to undergo the relevant PVG / Disclosure Scotland checks, costs will be met by NHS Grampian A great opportunity to make a difference and all help is greatly appreciated. Are you arty or crafty? Interested in people? Patient, creative & energetic? If so, read further - we want to hear from you! This new volunteering role involves activities such as crafts e.g.: card or jewellery making, games and other activities - even just chatting to patients over a cup of tea or pottering in our new greenhouse! Relevant training and development is also available to volunteers e.g.: training sessions in crafts such as card & jewellery making can be provided.
