Headway, the brain injury association is a charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury. Headway aims to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people with a brain injury and their family and friends.

Headway South Lanarkshire meet every Tuesday in the Burnbank Centre in Hamilton, between 6.00pm - 8.00pm. Activities include Art/Crafts, Holidays/Outings and Service User Groups.


Current opportunities

Headway South Lanarkshire provide information and support to individuals surviving with acquired brain injuries (ABIs), their carers and families. Contribute to the maintenance of a professional and welcoming environment of Headway South Lanarkshire. Duties: Liaise with providers who can assist Headway South Lanarkshire in recruiting members who will benefit from their Services and to raise awareness of the charity. Build relationships with potential providers/businesses to include hospitals, GP surgeries, physiotherapists, and local authorities. To comply with policies and procedures

We are looking for volunteers! This is a great opportunity to build on your skills and experience to help the work of a small charity in South Lanarkshire. Headway South Lanarkshire exists to provide support, information and referrals for people with an acquired brain injury. We aim to reduce social isolation increase access to information and referral information and empower people with an ABI to have more control over their lives. Duties include: • To arrange appropriate food and beverages in advance of the group (specifics will be provided) • Setting up and clearing away for the group • Arrange activities for the group and source materials • To distribute literature from Headway UK to members including competitions and information No experience required, just dedication and enthusiasm. Outgoing, friendly, and proactive character. Enjoy partnership and development work. Approachable and friendly. Ability to work on own using initiative at times.

Build your experience and share your skills as a Chair Person for Headway South Lanarkshire. This role is vital to help us run the work that we do to support and provide information for people with brain injury, their families and carers. Duties: The Vice Chair will assist the Chair in planning the annual cycle of board meetings and set the agendas chairing and facilitating the board meetings when the Chair is not available, monitoring that decisions taken at board meetings are implemented representing the organisation at appropriate events, meetings or functions where appropriate acting as a spokesperson for the organisation where appropriate attend monthly meetings, participate in other tasks as they arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, helping with fundraising keep informed about the activities of the organisation and wider issues which affect its work.
