Guide dogs want a world in which all people who are blind and partially sighted receive and enjoy the same rights, opportunities and responsibilities as everyone else.

Join a community of amazing people – and incredible dogs! Become a volunteer Fundraising Group Coordinator for Guide Dogs and make a massive difference to the lives of people with sight loss. We need someone to be the face of Guide Dogs in the local community and lead a fundraising group in your area. In this lead volunteer role, you will be the key contact for fundraising in your local community to raise money from a variety of activities such as collections, social events and tea parties. “My advice to people is that they shouldn’t be put off by the word ‘fundraising’. What you will be doing - Building relationships and coordinating a group of fundraising volunteers to raise funds and being the key contact in a local area. Organising events. Delegating tasks and responsibilities to other volunteers within the fundraising group and making sure fundraising policies and procedures are followed; including all other volunteer roles are maintaining their required records. Skills acquired: Communication Skills, Community Development, Customer Service, Event Management, Fundraising, Interpersonal Skills, Marketing Strategy & Planning, Public Relations, Public Speaking, Teamwork, Time Management. We provide full training in the role as well as an induction to the organization. You will receive ongoing support from a designated member of staff.

Could you be one of our amazing Dog Fosterers? Minimum age 18. We are Guide Dogs and we’re here to help people with sight loss live the life they choose. Our ambition is a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support they need to live their lives to the full. We rely on volunteers like you to help us improve the lives of people with sight loss. We have dogs at various ages and stages of their career who may need temporary accommodation and the need will be dependent on your location and circumstances. In this role your support will include: • Providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for a dog or puppy. • Ensuring the dog or puppy is fed, exercised, and cared for to maintain excellent health. • Using positive reinforcement training techniques to teach or maintain behaviours. • Ensuring the dog is not left alone for more than 4 hours in a 24-hour period. Foster volunteers who care for dogs in training need to drop off and collect their dogs from our Hamilton office ML3 6JT. Times are normally Monday to Friday between 8 - 9 am and 5 - 6 pm. Dogs will stay with our staff in the centre during the day to complete training. In the evenings and at weekends volunteer dog fosterers will keep the dog at home. The dog will stay with you during the duration of its training, this can be 18+ months depending on the dog and their pace of learning.

Guide Dogs are looking for a Fundraiser to assist the local fundraising team in promoting and taking part in a variety of activities to raise money for Guide Dogs. In this role you will have the chance to take part in activities such as: street collections on ‘flag’ days, helping on stalls at local events to fundraiser and keeping track of what we sell (including the cuddly toys!), taking Collection Boxes to local businesses and counting donations.

What does the role involve? • Working as part of Guide Dogs’ fundraising team with staff and volunteers • To help with coordination of a group to raise money through events or other activities, meeting with volunteers in your team as required, to help with booking venues for events • Welcoming new members • Liaising with Community Fundraiser informing them of your group’s work and the people involved • Making sure your group follows policy and procedure when fundraising • Being a passionate local ambassador for Guide Dogs’ work • Co-ordinating your branch in raising money through events or other activities, delegating tasks to other volunteers in your team as required, e.g. booking venues for events • Branch Chairs only: lead a branch with a constitution and should hold an AGM
