An exciting and rewarding opportunity where suitable volunteers will support those families expecting a baby and/or those who have children under 5 years old to live a healthier lifestyle and to engage in services/activities. Volunteers will support families who need extra help and who live in rural South Lanarkshire to attend vital health care appointments, to attend our own activities/courses and to attend community activities. Volunteers will support parents to be/parents to engage with services/agencies to enable them to become better parents and thus giving their babies/children the best start in life. The volunteer will build up a trusting, positive relationship with families and support them to achieve their goals set in their individual action plan. The volunteer will help the family integrate better into their community and will also involved in the delivery, evaluation and developments of this intensive family support programme.
Community Food Matters are looking for people to join our team of 'healthy eating' volunteers who deliver Community Cooking courses. The courses are for small groups (6-8 people) from various backgrounds and help participants improve their cooking skills and learn more about eating healthy, balanced meals on a budget. The cooking courses also help participants to reduce isolation, increase overall confidence and well-being. Volunteers demonstrate/guide participants in making their own healthy meals such as soup, lasagna, fruit crumble etc. and share tips on healthy eating, meal planning, safe storage of food, hygiene, how to shop/cook on a budget etc.
Why not volunteer and meet new people, learn new skills, become part of the community, increase confidence and motivation, and have fun!
