Kilbryde Hospice (SL)

Charity registered in Scotland SC032424

We are a charity that exists to provide care and support to people affected by life limiting illnesses and as a result of tremendous local support from both the business and private sector we continue to strive towards our goal to establish a local hospice in South Lanarkshire and are about to move into our new build premises based at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, providing a range of services to patients along with support for their families.

Current opportunities

Supporting our laundry gives valuable time back to our housekeeping staff who are vital in the hospice. It allows them to have more time to spend on the ward. You would be working with washing machines, dryers, and a roller iron. Don’t worry if you have never done anything like this before as all necessary training will be provided as well as PPE

We are looking for people who can spare a couple hours a week throughout the whole of South Lanarkshire to go to local businesses and collect cans thathave donations in them. Each can route can average £200 a week so the collections and distributions of empty ones are vital to the charity. A driving licence is required.

Volunteers will help support the day to day running of our retail shops - raising vital funds and awareness for Kilbryde Hospice. As a volunteer you will be involved in various tasks such as operating the till; tagging stock; sorting, preparing and replenishing stock; sales floor maintenance and general housekeeping around the shop. You will be expected to engage with the public shopping within the retail shop, attend regular support and training sessions and adhere to the policies and procedures of Kilbryde Hospice incl. absence procedures.

We are looking for volunteers in our new two floor charity retail shop in East Kilbride Town centre. We are looking for support mainly in the afternoons and weekends, from 12 noon onwards. It would be helpful if you have worked with a till before and had some customer service experience. If you have a couple of spare hours a week and are looking to support your local hospice (South Lanarkshire), are looking for experience or wanting to gain confidence to get back into work then this opportunity is for you.
