(1) To provide relief for persons suffering from mental or physical disability, illness or impairment and in particular those who have sensory impairment or limited mobility, and with particular reference to those who are resident in East Kilbride and environs (the Operating Area) (2) To advance education on all aspects of disability, and in particular disability involving sensory impairment or limited mobility (3) To promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds, in fields connected with disability.


Current opportunities

The purpose of the role of Volunteer Minibus Driver is to safely provide transport services to the local community to allow them to access East Kilbride Town Centre. You will drive our 9-seat minibus, equipped with accessibility lift for mobility equipment, on designated routes and/or to local events with the support of our Project Team. The volunteer will:- - Follow a planned route within the East Kilbride Locality to the Town Centre to ensure a smooth and professional service. - Provide a bus service from community hub in the town centre to local events put on by our Project Teams. - Safely operate the accessibility lift and assist passengers appropriately onto the bus. - Assist passengers to board and disembark safely. Awareness of good vehicle maintenance, and reporting issues promptly to the office team. - Complete paperwork for each shift, including vehicle safety checks and mileage records.

We are looking for a friendly person to volunteer in our busy community café called The Meeting Place. As a volunteer your duty is to provide a warm welcome to all visitors. You will assist with taking food orders, ensuring visitors feel welcome, engaging with customers, assisting the kitchen team with clearing tables, keeping kitchen area clean, making tea and coffee and serving food. Welcoming and friendly manner, commitment to ensuring cleaning and hygiene measures are always maintained, work well within a team and willingness to help colleagues reliable and willingness to learn.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help with our shopping and prescription service. This essential service ensures that those struggling to get out the house or who aren’t fully able to get a shop for themselves can get a weekly shop and maintain independence and have agency of their own shopping. Volunteers will be added to a Whatsapp group where call outs will be made for the shops that week. If the volunteer is available then they offer to do the shop and a member of staff will email the service users details and shopping list, the volunteer with then do the shopping then deliver it the service users’ home then you will be reimbursed for the shop and your millage. This is role is perfect for anyone who wants to help out and make a difference but can’t commit to set weekly time slots.
