Lanark and District Archaeological Society

Lanark and District Archaeological Society (LADAS) operates within the Clydesdale area of Scotland and has been involved in excavations on several prehistoric Roman and Medieval sites. The aim of LADAS is to uncover, promote and record the rich history of the Clydesdale area, through various activities.


Current opportunity

Helping with researching into the history of Clydesdale. Putting information on the Internet. Organizing and interpreting the collections of archaeological and historical material. Looking for new sites by using LIDAR and aerial photography and fieldwalking. Publishing material on our Facebook site Clydesdale's Heritage. This is one of Scotland's most popular Heritage sites. We also have a website of the same name. Working with the Lanark Museum joint project called the Lanark Story Photographing Lanark. Interviewing people Training is provided for this project and protocols have to be observed. We are also working with Archaeology Scotland on a project relating to the Clyde Valley and finally we work closely with Biggar Archaeology.
