Tayside Council on Alcohol (TCA)

To decrease the number and frequency of young people (12-18) engaging in serious substance misuse.

Current opportunity

Tayside Council on Alcohol (TCA) was established in 1972 and is one of the leading providers of support services in the Tayside area for people who are affected by the misuse of alcohol. To help support the organisation, we are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join the Board of Directors. As a non-executive member of the Board, you’ll play a central role in developing strategy, monitoring quality and governance and supporting the provision of services. Members of the Board can contribute to the work of TCA by providing useful links with key partner organisations such as local and national government, the NHS and the Police. You will have had experience working at a senior level in one or more of the following: social work, health, national or local government, corporate governance, law, accountancy, fundraising, advocacy or communications. Knowledge of current local community issues, as well as local authority priorities and strategies, would be advantageous. Also, knowledge of the Third Sector and Regulation of Care legislation would be an advantage. TCA is very interested in recruiting applicants with a background at a senior level in Finance. Applicants with a background in Marketing/Media, Legal, HR, Research & Development or ICT are also very welcome to apply. If you possess strategic vision, good independent judgement, and can work as part of a diverse team, then we would like to hear from you. The Board meets around four times per year, and there is also the opportunity to contribute to quarterly Audit, HR or Finance Sub-Committees. Board membership is voluntary and unpaid, although travel expenses may be reimbursed. Learning and development opportunities exist for all Board members, including induction and on-going training. For further information and an application pack, please contact Fergus McCurley at TCA, The Wishart, 50 Constable Street, Dundee DD4 6AD Telephone: 01382 456012 or email fergus.mccurley@alcoholtayside.com. Registered Charity Number SC006511 Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm Friday 26th March 2021.
