We help people who are in need by donating furniture, electrical appliancies, household appliancies etc. The aim of the charity is to easy the financial burden of people in need and to help them start a home.
Home from Home often receive donated furniture in need of restoration, repair or refurbishment. We are looking for a volunteer capable of bringing donated items up to an acceptable standard to be passed on to customers.
Whether you are a friendly and approachable with good people skills or the 'quiet type' who prefers to work alone there are volunteering roles for you at Home from Home.
We need volunteers to sort out donated items, make up 'starter packs' for new households (box of pots pans, bric-a-brac, bedding etc) Make up attractive displays, keep the place presentable, take direction from shop supervisor & work within a team of volunteers. Good experience can be gained as well as helping recycling West Dunbartonshire's unwanted goods.
Home from Home need to deliver second hand furniture to people in need of help to furnish their house. We have two vans, driven by our staff, who need volunteers to help them transport furniture from people who donate items, to people in need of it. The service is very well used and relies on volunteers, you will be helping people to recycle and providing an important support service to people struggling to furnish their house, often the people have been homeless. Volunteers who have done this job have found it keeps them fit and sharpens their mind as they negotiate the various challenges of furniture distribution and collecting, this task is an ideal way to prepare for going back to work, it helps build confidence and experience.
We are looking for an Admin person who has good literacy skills, basic computer skills, filing skills, be good with members of the public and have a good telephone manner.
Part of the role includes being able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks, keep records up to date and have the ability to work independently.
