Current opportunities

No matter how good our services are, we can't properly support our community well if we don't have good Support people in the team. If this sounds like you?... we would love you to consider volunteering with us for a few hours per week. Providing a number of services to support ex-service men and women and family members from the Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, and the Merchant Navy. These include giving advice and information about benefits, financial support and social activities to assist them adapting to civilian life. If we are unable to help them then we signpost them to other agencies through local contacts. Our friendly environment is an ideal place for you to put your organisational skills to great use, Ideally we would like someone with experience of organising events, and the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team, you must be able to delegate have good communication skills as well as organisation and planning skills and dealing with members of the public.

We have a small shop where we raise funds for the Association, we are looking for someone to work with the public and process minimal paperwork and the opportunity to create displays and take part in research as well as support the updating of our social media pages. As volunteer Office staff your role will entail Meeting members of the public, Helping at fundraisers, Helping maintain stock, Rotating of items in the office, Helping out with the Heritage Centre, Managing the front desk, Filing duties, Computer work i.e. word documents, spreadsheets, etc.

We require an enthusiastic, computer literate individual to work alongside the office co-ordinator within out office. We are looking for someone who is able to keep our records up to date, keeping and maintaining data, updating social media pages regularly, work on and issue the bi-monthly newsletter, looking up service records and greeting members of the public and dealing with their inquiry. Tasks can be flexible and the volunteer would need to be flexible to completing other tasks such as updating the display cabinets and helping in the Heritage Centre

We are looking for someone to run our social media information posts, working beside the other volunteers to make our social media campaigns as up to date as possible, someone who is able to use various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Ticktok, posting on the Armed Forces Veterans social media accounts regularly as well as promoting up-coming activities and posting after an event to thank those donating, seeking the correct person to offer advice before responding to any requests on the site. Someone with an eye for detail, likes to design, develop and maintain our website, such as its performance and capacity, which are measures of a website's speed and how much traffic the site can handle. In addition, you may create content for the site.
