To provide emotional support and practical information to victims, witnesses and others affected by crime.


Current opportunities

Provide emotional support to anyone who has been affected by crime and asb through use of counselling skills, needs assessments and Individual support plans to help people normalise their situation. To provide information on the criminal justice system to those who have become involved with the police through no fault of their own and have no idea of what happens next. To assist people to claim for Criminal Injuries Compensation for serious injury, completion of Victim Impact Statements and sign posting to other agencies.

Once trained and after a period of shadowing (roughly six months) and once you have been accepted onto the PVG scheme, you will have your own caseload of people, victims or witnesses of crime who you will provide ongoing emotional support and signposting to on a regular basis. At times the calls can be quite traumatic. You need life expeience, empathy and good listening skills, and the ability to be able to support people who have been a victim of crime. A willingness to learn new skills, e.g., IT skills and enjoy being part of a team.
