Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a community hub for people with sensory loss. Volunteer drivers are an essential part of our volunteer team as they enable people to access our many activities. Our blind and partially sighted Centre users often face barriers in accessing public transport and drivers help us to remove these barriers. Sight loss can leave people isolated and public transport is often a barrier for people with sight loss. We aim to overcome this by providing people with sight loss with transport that allows them to access our many activities. The principal task is to collect blind and partially sighted Centre users from their homes and assist them to get into the centre. This may involve guiding people with a visual impairment and full training will be given for this. Centre users are coming in to access one of the groups or activities that we offer, as a volunteer driver you can stay for the group or come back after a couple of hours for the return journey. Occasionally groups go out for afternoon tea or to visit local visitor attractions.

Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a community hub for people with sensory loss. During the pandemic we have moved much of our activity online. This includes our fundraising activities. Like many organisations this area of our work has been impacted and we are looking at new, innovative ways to continue to raise much needed funds for our activities. Many of our activities have moved online and we need to be creative in thinking of new ways to fundraise in this way. In this role you could be involved with the fundraising group to develop and organise virtual fundraising activities. The role will involve: - Organising virtual events to help raise funds for the Centre e.g. coffee mornings, afternoon teas, sponsored events - Participating in national fundraising events on behalf of the Sensory Centre e.g. recruiting runners for 5K events, half marathons, Kiltwalk etc - Assisting the Fundraising committee to come up with new ideas to raise funds and make contacts to raise the profile of the Centre and much needed funds
