St. John Scotland - Falkirk

Charity registered in Scotland SC047485

St John Scotland was formed in 1947, and for more than 70 years we have helped improve the lives of people in need through our charitable work. Today, our teams of members, volunteers and supporters across the country run projects, which help save and enhance lives every day. These include our volunteer-run Patient Transport services, which provide free, comfortable transport to help patients get to hospital, and are a lifeline for hundreds of people going through cancer treatment or dialysis each year. We work with local communities across Scotland to help save lives in the event of cardiac arrest, by training members of the public in simple bystander CPR so they can come to the aid of a loved one or stranger in an emergency. We also work with community groups, businesses and individuals across the country to increase access to publicly available defibrillators, helping to give more local communities access to vital life-saving equipment. Alongside our volunteer-led projects, we support Scottish Mountain Rescue teams by funding bases and vehicles, while our St. John Scotland Mountain Safety Instructor scheme is helping to keep a whole generation of mountaineers safe on Scotland’s hills.

Internationally, we are proud to support the sight saving work of the St. John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem, as well as helping people across the world who need it most through our support for health projects run by St. John Malawi.

Current opportunity

As a St. John Scotland Patient Transport driver, you are the friendly face patients see when they’re picked up at home on their way to treatment, or from the hospital once it’s complete. You’re the person who makes life easier, who they can rely on… and have a blether with! It will be your role to transport renal patients to and from the Renal Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital (FVRH) in Larbert. This service is completely free to patients. Drivers will need access to their own car and all vehicles and drivers require full insurance. St John Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service and local NHS Trusts to provide patient transport for people attending oncology and renal clinics. All passengers are referred to us by the Scottish Ambulance Service or NHS clinics. Our Patient Transport services are a lifeline for people who rely on us to get to hospital for life-saving treatments.
