Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity raises funds to support young patients, their families and the NHS heroes who care for them at Scotland’s largest children’s hospital. Money raised through donations, fundraising and volunteering helps to fund our life-changing projects and support services including our hospital Play Programme, Family Support and Bereavement Services, Medical Equipment, Paediatric Research and support for NHS staff.


Current opportunities

Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity opened our first high street shop in Buchanan Galleries in 2022. We sell a range of pre-loved baby & child clothes as well as other products. Our volunteers support our shop by helping to prepare clothes for the shop floor and help to serve customers. Our shop is open 7 days a week and we're looking for volunteers to support whenever possible, with shift options of 10am to 1pm or 1pm to 4pm. This is a great opportunity for anyone that enjoys interacting with the public and would like to have a direct impact by helping to raise vital funds that support our young patients, their families and our NHS heroes at the hospital. Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity are looking for volunteer drivers to support with collections and deliveries of items for our Buchanan Galleries Shop and to support with any other ad-hoc driving tasks. Use of our charity van will be provided and manual handling training given. Volunteers will be part of a team and be contacted when a collection or delivery is required, this is a flexible role where you can choose when you are available to support. This opportunity will include some heavy lifting. GCHC are delighted to be partnering with Silverburn on their in centre summer activity, Flamingo Beach. Flamingo Beach will be located inside the centre and will be open to children and families visiting the centre. For an entry fee of £2.50 per child, visitors will gain access to the beach and have the opportunity to play in the sand, build sand castles and play with the beach toys. Parents and carers will have a comfortable decking area to sit on and watch on as their kids have fun. The indoor beach will be open to the public each day from Monday 24th June to Sunday 18th August, and our volunteers will support with obtaining entry fees from visitors and ensuring everyone is happy in the beach. We also have a small retail space next to the beach that will need to be manned by volunteers, selling beach themed merchandise and products. The shift options for this opportunity are 9:30am to 1:30pm or 1:30pm to 5pm each day. Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity are looking for volunteer drivers to support vital hospital services. As one of our valued Drivers, you will visit various locations around the country, collecting and delivering items as required. Inductions with the relevant departments will be provided. Volunteers will be contacted when a collection or delivery is required, and most journeys will be planned in advance. This is a flexible role where you can choose when you are available to support, and journeys will be given based upon your preferences and availability. The frequency of assignments will vary according to request demands. Restrictions: • Have a minimum of 2 year post licence driving experience • Have access to own vehicle (in good condition) with Comprehensive Insurance cover insured for driving in a volunteering role. Roadside Assistance cover for own vehicle is recommended. Please note fuel expenses will be reimbursed.  • You must have a working mobile phone and active email address • The role requires drivers to be in good health and reasonably active  • A PVG check will be required and completion of an NHS Occupational Health Check questionnaire. • Drivers will be expected to complete Drivercheck prior to volunteering for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, a link will be issued following successful interview. Drivercheck is the UK’s largest driving licence checking and vehicle compliance business.
