Bield Housing & Care

Charity registered in Scotland SC006878

Bield is a not for profit organisation and Scottish Charity, as well as a Registered Social Landlord. For over 40 years we've been developing Housing and Services to enable Scotland's older people live the life they want. Our brand promise is 'Free to be' - it sums up our firm belief that older people should have the freedom to make their own choices and be free to live as independently as possible. This is made possible thanks to the experience, dedication and passion of our staff and volunteers.

Current opportunities

Have fun, learn new skills and make a difference to the lives of older people in your area. Bield Housing and Care are looking for a friendly individual with IT skills to join the team. Bield volunteers help reduce isolation and loneliness by supporting older people in a variety of ways. Our Silver Surfer volunteers help tenants develop skills using computers, laptops and smartphones. This is a social activity in itself but the skills learned can also help tenants to develop their social networks, keeping in touch with family and friends or getting involved in community activities. It can open up a whole new world for the participants! You don’t need to be an IT expert but if you have experience of using laptops (eg. Microsoft Office, Emails, Internet) and smartphones that would be great. In terms of volunteer availability, any afternoon would work but preferably a weekday. An induction will be provided and you will receive ongoing support. Expenses will also be covered. Please note the minimum age for volunteering is 16 years old. If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d really love to hear from you
