Perth & Kinross Duke of Edinburgh Assocation

Charity registered in Scotland SC021937

The Association was set up to advance the mental, physical and spiritual welfare of young people between the ages of 14 and 25 by promoting the scheme of Awards known as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

In recent years, whilst maintaining the core function of the Association we have focused our activities on provision of support and experiential learning for targeted groups of young people with Additional Support Needs (ASN).

Current opportunities

We are looking for individuals who are supportive and engaging to help transport our young people to and from sessions throughout Perth and Kinross. A lot of our young people have additional support needs and require structure and consistency in their programmes. The driver will be responsible for picking up the young person or small groups and transporting to the meeting point for their sessions, then picking up and returning to their home address. You will meet the young people you will be transporting in advance along with their development worker so that they get to know you in advance. Travel Expenses will be paid for use of own vehicle.

We are looking for volunteers to help support our young people work towards and achieve a number of awards including Duke of Edinburgh, Heritage Hero, NNAS to name a few. You will work alongside our staff to offer a range of different opportunities for the young people on our programmes many of whom have additional support needs. We are looking for individuals who have good communication skills, patience, empathy and are looking for a rewarding opportunity to support young people who have not had the opportunity to achieve in the past.

We are looking for people who enjoy walking to support our young people to do day walks to help them complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award. The routes will be planned in advance and all the young people will have completed the relevant training required for their level of the award. The Day Walk Volunteer will support each individual as required and monitor their progress throughout the walk.

To help assist young people to undertake their Expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Most of our young people have additional support needs and require some extra support to ensure that they can complete the walks that have been planned. You will be part of a team that helps them achieve their Expedition. This is a rewarding opportunity to get to befriend and mentor young people that require that little bit of extra help to achieve.
