Current opportunity

Braveheart offers a range of health related activities to help people live healthier lives. Braveheart groups give you the chance to take time out to look after your health, and have some fun along the way in a social group Braveheart depends on Volunteers to bring about real and lasting health improvements in our community. Originally set up in 2010 in the local area, to help people with Coronary Heart Disease increase their health and fitness, Braveheart has grown, and is keen to get more people involved as Walk Leader Volunteers. Our friendly and welcoming walks promote social inclusion within the community, encourage the use of green space, and raise awareness of the benefits of active travel within your local area. Our walks support individuals living with Dementia, long term conditions, individuals who are visually impaired or deaf, and anyone who wishes to become more physically or socially active within their community. We offer Weekly and Monthly walks throughout Forth Valley for individuals of all abilities (please see Walking Timetable page). Our Weekly walks last from 30 minutes to 1 hour long (slow and brisk pace), with our Monthly walks venturing further afield and of longer duration (45minutes -1.5hrs long) . All walks finish with a tea and a chat in the café afterwards. We ask that volunteers can commit to a minimum of 2 hours per week, but can do more if they would like. In order to carry out this role, you will be someone with knowledge of your local area, and walks. You will enjoy walking, and enjoy engaging with people. All volunteers will be supported by our Walking Development Officer, who will provide full training to volunteers. Volunteers will also be provided with clothing to carry out the role.
