Aberdeen Linking Lives

We set up Aberdeen Linking Lives as we observed that our nation has an aging population that are lonely and socially isolated. We are a Linking Lives UK partner which has more than 20 years’ experience and aim to make a transformational impact in the lives of 130 elderly people per year by reducing their social isolation.

Current opportunities

Aberdeen Linking Lives is a befriending service generally aimed at the elderly who find themselves requiring some extra friendship and support. We match volunteers with older people who would like to see a friendly volunteer visitor on a regular basis for around one hour. Aberdeen Linking Lives relies on volunteers to deliver our service. Volunteers do not need any special skills as they receive full training, support and advice for their role. They also provide references and receive the necessary criminal record checks (PVG) prior to beginning visits (there is no cost for PVG checks for volunteers). If you would like to volunteer, please give us a call or email us for more information: E Mail: aberdeen@linkinglives.uk tel.: Shola, Aberdeen Linking Lives Coordinator on 07425622600. All help makes a difference to the lives of older people in Aberdeen and is greatly appreciated.

Linking Lives UK has been working hard to respond effectively to the impact of Covid-19 particularly among those already affected by social isolation and loneliness on a daily basis. Aberdeen Two’s Company is a local telephone befriending service that connects volunteers with local people (‘Link Friends’) through telephone contact. The aim of our telephone befriending is to help reduce the impact that social isolation by making connections with others. This is especially important at this time of COVID-19 Crisis in the UK.
