Glasgow's Golden Generation is a charity (formerly Glasgow Old People's Welfare Association) which was formed in 1948 to help and support the Older Generation of Glasgow by providing care in the autumn years. We have two Day Care centres, a Befriending project, a Welfare and Income Maximisation project, weekly clubs and a digital inclusion project.
We have a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available including drivers.
For this role it is a requirement that you have a category D1 manual license to be able to drive the minibus.
The opportunity is for Glasgow Southside, the opportunity takes place at David Cargill Centre, 166 Ledard Road, G42 9RA.
The purpose of the role is to assist with the transportation of our clients from the front door of their property to the Centre and back to their homes. This role enables our volunteers to make a difference and provides a very rewarding role by preventing social isolation and loneliness for the older generation and enabling our service users to feel a part of their local communities. The hours of operation would be from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 11am and 2pm to around 4pm (or until the last drop off).
Main Activities/ Tasks:
•Assisting service user to and from the vehicle
•Supporting on route to our centers.
•Returning service users to their residence
•To promote public understanding of the work carried out by Glasgow’s Golden Generation.
•To promote and adhere to the Policies and Procedures in the Driver’s Handbook
Qualities/ Experience/Skills
•Good communication skills, reliability and customer care service skills are required to fulfil this role
•D1 Category License is required to drive our minibus, regular license acceptable to drive the people carrier
•You will need a full driving license for at least two years, be over 21 years of age and have no points on your license
•Hours from 9.30am to 11am and thereafter 2pm until the last drop off around 4pm. Driving and pick-ups will be within the Glasgow area only
