Fife Council supports Bikeability training in schools.


Current opportunities

Be a Bikeability Instructor and train school children to cycle safely! Bikeability is today’s cycle training programme. It’s like cycling proficiency, but better! It’s about gaining practical skills over 3 levels, understanding how to cycle on today’s roads, giving the skills and confidence for all kinds of cycling. Levels 1, 2 and 3 take trainees from the basics of balance and control, all the way to planning and making an independent journey on busier roads. Volunteer with Fife Council (who support the Bikeability project) with support from the Bikeability co-coordinator. Training will be provided to enable volunteers to deliver levels 1, 2 and 3 Bikeability. You will have the opportunity to be alongside other volunteers who may be parents, teachers of members of the local community. Sessions can vary depending on the individual schools timetable e.g. could be 1 hour per week for 6-9 weeks or 3 block sessions per week of 3 hours in one week. This role would suit a person who is enthusiastic about cycling, volunteering with young people and being outdoors.

Be a Cycle Training Assistant (CTA) and help to train school childrent to cycle safely. A CTA can deliver Bikeability Levels 1 and 2 at schools in your local are. In addition, a CTA can assist the Bikeability Instructor to deliver level 3 Bikeability. This is a great opportunity for a person who is enthusiastic about cycling, enjoys helping children and young people and being outdoors. As a volunteer with Fife Council with support from the Bikeability Co-ordinator. Training will be provided to enable volunteers to deliver Levels 1 and 2 Bikeability. You will also have the chance to be alongside other volunteers who may be parents, teachers, or members of the local community. Bikeability is supported by Fife Council.
