The Friendship Cabin is run by Volunteers, who organise social, recreational, and educational activities in the Woodside Community Hall, Glenrothes.
Volunteering with the Friendship Cabin gives you an opportunity to support members who have suffered isolation for some time and are now beginning to rebuild their social lives. The members come to the sessions to enjoy dance and movement and participate in activities like listening to entertainers and taking part in discussions. As part of making The Friendship Cabin a welcoming place, light refreshments and a warm meal are provided on most days in a very relaxing atmosphere.
The volunteer’s primary role is to ensure the smooth running of each day, including helping with serving drinks & snacks, washing and drying dishes, shopping, and accompanying clients to bus or other transport.
You should also be willing to report any concerns to the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Experience shows that volunteers gain considerable satisfaction in their roles, especially understanding the different requirements of each member.
