Who Cares? Scotland
Who Cares? Scotland is a national voluntary organisation, working with care experiences young people and care leavers across Scotland. Who Cares? Scotland supports care experiences people to have their voice heard and we make that happen in a number of ways.
Would you like to help children and young people engage in activities to build their skills and confidence and engage in their local community? The participation support volunteer role will assist in providing and supporting activities for young people.
This role will involve interacting with young people aged 10 - 18 years via a variety of activities e.g. arts, crafts, DJ workshops and general youth work at our weekly sessions as well as at our National events that happen throughout the year.
As a Fundraising Champion, you will plan and deliver a range of fundraising activities locally in your community. You would be volunteering alongside a small team of volunteers to raise the profile of Who Cares? Scotland and to raise the vital funds we need.
This is a flexible volunteering opportunity for someone who enjoys organising fundraising activities, big or small. The role would involve researching and talking to prospective supporters to develop links with local organisations, and also keeping up to date with guidance, information and fundraising initiatives at a local and national level with our community fundraising coordinator, Ray Maclean.
This role is flexible and the time commitments for this role may vary depending on the number and type of fundraising activities arranged. This could mean it could be anything from 2 hours a month to 10 hours, but it will fit around you and what help you can offer. The fundraising volunteer team will meet every couple of months for about 2 hours, plus you will need time to plan and attend a series of fundraising activities and events throughout the year. We have offices that our volunteer team can use to access a variety of resources that will be helpful when planning fundraising activities.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help us achieve a lifetime of equality, respect and love for care experienced people.
As a volunteer fundraiser with our fundraising team, you will support us at local and national fundraising activities on an adhoc basis throughout the year as an enthusiastic, reliable, personable and committed extra pair of hands.
As a Volunteer fundraiser, you’ll help us to deliver fun and exciting fundraising events for both us and our supporters by being ‘on the day help’. (Please note that this role does not include any planning of events, if this is of interest to you then please see our ‘Fundraising Champion’ role.)
Your responsibilities may include:
• Helping with the setting up of fundraising activities on the day (eg at a local tea party),
• Meeting and greeting people at a range of events
• Cheering on our supporters as they complete amazing activity challenges to help us raise money
• Helping pack some bags at a local store to raise funds!
Sometimes there will be lots of events and sometimes we will be quietly organising the next and you may not hear from us for a couple of month’s but rest assured we’ll call in your help and it will be all hands to the deck!
In this role you will be able to develop your communication, organisation and team working skills. Most importantly though, you’ll inspire people to raise funds and enable events to happen as quite simply we need another pair of happy smiling hands to help!
