We are a social enterprise assisting people with severe and enduring mental illness and issues by providing them with opportunities to learn new skills; stabilise their condition; gain confidence and integrate within the local community. Our mission is to provide stimulating and rewarding therapeutic work activities that produce ranges of innovative and quality products to support the psychological wellbeing of people with severe and enduring mental illness and mental health issues.


Current opportunities

Do you have joinery skills and have time to spare to support people with severe and enduring mental health conditions to participate in therapeutic woodwork activities? At The Brock woodwork workshop our clients are supported to create garden furniture, garden novelty items and small craft items. Participating in these activities helps our clients build self-confidence and gain skills which may support their recovery and possibly lead to employment. We would welcome a woodwork assistant to join our team and help our clients. Volunteers develop good working relationships with clients, providing support and guidance in the use of tools and equipment under the direction of our joinery supervisor. Some do-it-yourself, woodwork or joinery skills are desirable.

Do you like working outdoors and have experience of maintaining garden areas? Could you help create and maintain an innovative garden space with our service users? We are looking for a volunteer gardener/horticulturist to support our Horticulture leader to create a sensory garden space and undertake garden maintenance alongside our service users. The Brock deliver a variety of therapeutic activities that provide opportunities for service users to learn new skills, gain confidence and integrate with the local community. You will assist our horticulture leader in delivering activities to our service users and undertake maintenance duties in the garden centre which will include: tree/bush pruning, clearing leaves, weeding, planting, cleaning and creating outdoor features as well as creating a safe and innovative sensory garden space.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to be part of our retail team. The Brock deliver a variety of therapeutic activities that provide opportunities for service users to learn new skills, gain confidence and integrate with the local community. The items that service users create we sell in our brand new shop. We are looking for volunteers and help run our Craft shop which will sell our unique, hand-made/grown products which include a wide variety of: plants, hanging baskets, planters, wooden garden items including planters of all sizes, tables, benches, chairs, bird tables, wishing wells etc. Our retail assistants will be trained to undertake a wide range of activities such as serving customers, taking bespoke orders, operating the till, cash handling and visually merchandising stock to make our shop visually appealing and tidy and Our organisation will look to equip people with the knowledge and practical work experience to help them secure future employment. Volunteering with us will enable you to build upon your communication, team working and customer service skills. If you also have a particular skill or interest, our teams would be delighted to discuss how we could help you utilise your interests in our store. Whatever your talents, please do share it with us!

The items that service users create we sell to the public in order to be able to continue and sustain the work we do to support those with severe and enduring mental health problems. We are looking for volunteers to deliver our larger items to customers using the organisations van.
