Current opportunities

CLASP Digital supports people to make the most of our exciting new digital world: particularly older people who want to connect with family around the world, learn about online shopping, understand social media, or those who’ve yet to take the cyber-plunge, plus many others besides. We do this by helping people understand how to use digital technology - from smartphones and tablets, to laptops and desktop computers. We talk them through getting online and help them achieve their aims by showing them how to navigate the internet safely, always paying attention to the learner's goals. To help CLASP Digital do this we wish to recruit volunteer Digital Buddies who are able to share their knowledge and experience with others on a non-formal, learner-centred, one-to-one basis. By teaching the Essential Digital Skills you will help people build their confidence to use tablets, phones and computers for their own benefit. Sessions usually last no more than an hour. Topics will cover email and other personal communications apps, social media, online shopping & comparison sites, web-searching, problem-solving, helping people keep in touch with friends and family and helping them connect better with service providers. Although you must be competent in the use of smartphones, tablets or computers - it is more important that you have lots of patience and good people skills. CLASP Digital-certificated induction training will be provided. This is a unique opportunity to make a big difference to people’s lives. The satisfaction you will feel when you see your learner making obvious progress will show just how worthwhile your efforts were! What our learners say: Mrs M (Kilwinning): "I've had my phone 18 months and I've never known how to answer it! You've changed my life!" Mr G (Irvine): "I've learned not to be afraid to try things in the apps - now I know how to use my phone as a sat-nav - I'm delighted."
