St Magnus Way

To establish a pilgrimage route through Orkney.

Current opportunities

The St Magnus Way are looking for volunteer Path Keepers to walk sections of the St Magnus Way to check the condition of the path and report any problems to the Volunteer Coordinator. Key activities include: • Checking the general condition of the path in a particular section of the Way. • Checking way marker poles and way markers (missing or fallen). • Checking in grassy areas if strimming is required. • Reporting major littering. • Taking home minor litter. • Informing the Coordinator when a section has been checked. What could a volunteer gain from the experience? • Providing a service to the local community and visitors. • Being part of a St Magnus Way community of walkers. • Exercise and fresh air.

Would you like to work with the Trustees of Orkney Pilgrimage (St Magnus Way) to maintain the walking conditions of the Way? This volunteer role involves strimming grassed areas during walking season, maintaining the paths, clearing marine litter and/or helping with planning and developing the route. What could a volunteer gain from the experience? • Providing a service to the local community and visitors. • Being part of St Magnus Way walking community. • Fresh air and exercise.
