St Magnus Way

To establish a pilgrimage route through Orkney.

Current opportunities

Volunteers are needed to regularly walk a section of the St Magnus Way to check the route, clear litter and vegetation and possibly do some grass strimming. The St Magnus Way is a 58-mile pilgrimage route through Mainland Orkney, inspired by the life and death of Magnus, Orkney’s patron saint. You would be maintaining your section to keep it accessible and safe for users and you would be reporting any issues to the St Magnus Way committee to manage. A great way to get outdoors, keep fit and enjoy the scenery and wildlife while conserving Orkney's long distance path for local walkers and visiting pilgrims.

To be responsible for the sale of merchandise related to The St Magnus Way, ordering merchandise from suppliers and keeping local stockists supplied

St Magnus Way are looking for a volunteer to help them manage their website and app. The St Magnus Way is a 58-mile pilgrimage route through Mainland Orkney, inspired by the life and death of Magnus, Orkney’s patron saint. The St Magnus Way website provides pilgrims with routes, resources, news and events and the St Magnus Way app is a museum tour guide in your pocket! The app allows pilgrims to access resources relevant to their location whilst you walk. Both the website and app are up and running, so you would be mainly maintaining these and adding and refreshing content. This would be a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain IT experience of website and app management, or for someone who has time to share their IT knowledge and skills.
