Skilz Community Health & Wellbeing Project is a person-centred and community needs-led project in Arbroath. We offer free sport, physical activity and recreational activities which is open to the community. Sessions are inclusive to all; however, we work with partnership organizations to specifically support those experiencing poverty, mental health issues, social isolation and loneliness, poor confidence and self-esteem, those who are physically inactive and those who are managing long-term health conditions.
Our staff host groups across the week that are inclusive for ALL. Providing the opportunity for anyone to take part in the sessions that we offer. The staff oversee the running of the following groups and provide a welcoming experience for regular and new participants. The staff also work in partnership with other organisation around the local area to provide FREE groups for the local community. These include:
• Walking group,
• Crochet for beginners,
• Blether & Brew,
• Seated Exercise,
• Gentle exercise,
• Digital Skills,
• Social Drop In,
• Art group, Yoga,
• Leisure Photography,
• Table tennis
• Advanced Long Distance Walking Group.
What can you expect to be doing?
• Setting up and taking down equipment
• Session Planning
• Delivering sessions
• Interacting and befriending with all participants
• Completing risk assessments
• Travelling between multiple local venues
Were looking for someone with
• Experience in working with members of the public
• A friendly and outgoing personality
• Good communicational skills
• Good organisation skills
• Effective group working skills
• Preferably has a driving license (not necessary)
We ask for a flexible commitment throughout the week. Most sessions last 1-2 hours. There is a group that runs everyday of the working week so hours can be flexible to suit.

Our Introduction to Sport class is aimed at Under 5's & their parent or carer. Little one's have the chance to explore a range of sports equipment inspired by Free Play and structured games or activities. The sports coaches help with all aspects of the class. They plan and execute a fun and enjoyable session which allows the families to interact with one another and build positive relationships through sports. Songs, Dance & Smiles is an intergenerational class that is aimed at Under 5’s & their parent or carer and older adults. The hope is to create relaxed sessions that bring joy and form long lasting friendships. Participants are led on an adventure of exploration and magic as they learn and develop language and social skills using a variety of props that stimulate the imagination and senses. Sessions are created to focus on interactive participation for everyone.
What you could expect:

• Collecting fruit from the local supermarket
• Session planning
• Delivering sessions
• Interacting and befriending with the families

• The ability to participate in the delivery of sessions

We ask for commitment of 1 hour per week. Introduction to Sport is delivered on a Saturday morning. Songs, Dance & Smiles is delivered on a Thursday morning.
Skilz will provide any necessary support or training that is needed for this role so that volunteers can feel confident and happy when volunteering with us.

Project Elevate aims to support girls and young women to become more active. The staff works with young people to find their interests and create a programme that offers variety and diversity, allowing the young people to experience different physical activities or sports that they may not have the chance to do so within their school PE class.

• Experience in delivering sports/physical activities

We ask for a flexible commitment throughout the week. Most sessions last 1 hour. The groups run on a Monday morning at 10.40am and Tuesday at 9.45am

Skilz DJ Project offers an 8-week programme that works to compliment the Curriculum for Excellence. Each session works closely to meet the Significant Aspects of Learning to support education.
Students are offered a varied programme that is child centred and allows them to collaborate and tinker with the latest DJ technology as they discover the many ways to manipulate and generate new sounds. Each session will encourage students to be active creators as they take songs they know and make it their own, putting fun into music. Our DJ tutors deliver the curriculum in schools all around Dundee and Angus by teaching all the technical aspects of DJing. The tutors encourage the children to be creative and explore through the music that they enjoy. They also make sure each child is working towards making a personal mini mix by the end of the 8-week programme.
What can you expect to be doing?
• Setting up and taking down equipment
• Helping children navigate through the music platforms and DJ software’s
• Demonstrating all aspects of a DJ controller
• Helping deliver sessions
• Interacting and befriending with the children
• Completing session plan evaluations
• Helping write case studies
• Completing risk assessments
We are looking for someone with
• With experience in DJing or music
• A friendly and outgoing personality
• Good communicational skills
• Good organisation skills
• Suitable IT skills
• Preferably has a driving license (not necessary)
We ask initially for commitment of 1-3 hours per week for 8-weeks. Depending on how many schools are booked in for the DJ programme the commitment could vary.
