To provide a local foodbank for people in the Uists and Barra providing both fresh and non-perishable food and non-food items.


Current opportunities

Task Description: • Enter all required information from redeemed vouchers and stores stock forms onto the online data collection system on a weekly basis • Securely store vouchers and signed packing lists together in a locked filing cabinet • Adhere to all Data Protection Act requirements • Take notes at team meetings and circulate information as required • Organise the collation and distribution of information such as flyers, posters etc. for schools and other people, as required • Follow all policies and procedures including safeguarding policy and confidentiality agreement • Carry out tasks under the guidance of the Chair • Report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the Chair or member of the steering committee

Task Description: • Welcome clients to the foodbank centre • Make refreshments and tidy up as required during the session • Offer a listening ear and signpost clients, as required, to further support, using information from the signposting folder/leaflets • Ensure that clients sign the packing list when they are given their food items and that all vouchers and packing lists are stored securely within the bounds of data protection • Check stock for imminent ‘best before’ dates, place out-of-date food in appropriate box in store room for disposal and record the action • Wear a name badge/ID during the session • Work under the guidance of the Chair and report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to them.

Task Description: • Receive food donations from members of the public and thank them • Ensure that incoming stock is checked, weighed, and recorded • Sort food by date and type, removing any items that are damaged or out-of- date • Ensure that food is checked weekly and rotated as required • Notify the Chair or other member of the steering committee when food stock is low so that appeals can be made for these items • Keep store area clean and tidy at all times • Prepare stock orders for the foodbank centre and/or emergency food boxes, as appropriate • Report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the Chair
