Relationships Scotland F M Tayside and Fife (Perth and Kinross)

Charity registered in Scotland SC008471

The Service offers family mediation, counselling and therapies, child contact and other family support services to families, children, young people, parents, couples and individuals. All our work centres around supporting them to overcome relationship difficulties, separation and conflict. Volunteers work in our Perth Child Contact Centre on Saturdays between 10am and 4pm. Child Contact Centres are child-friendly, safe, neutral, staffed places where children can come to spend time with their parent, siblings or any other family member, following a relationship breakdown or separation, where otherwise they wouldn’t get to see them. Parents do not meet, children get to develop relationships through play, away from conflict.

Current opportunity

The Service offers family mediation, counselling and therapies, child contact and other family support services to families, children, young people, parents, couples and individuals. All our work centres around supporting them to overcome relationship difficulties, separation and conflict. Volunteers work in our Perth Child Contact Centre on Saturdays between 10am and 4pm. Child Contact Centres are child-friendly, safe, neutral, staffed places where children can come to spend time with their parent, sibling or any other family member, following a relationship breakdown or separation, where otherwise they wouldn’t get to see them due to family conflict. Parents do not meet and children get to develop relationships through play. This enables parents to develop trust in each other as parents and move towards making their own arrangements if possible. Volunteers are invaluable in enabling children and family members to connect through play and offering a service that benefits the local communities and families. Volunteers have enabled the development of child contact centres in the area and they continue to be crucial contributors, by managing the families’ coming and going on the day and facilitating children to engage in play and develop important family relationships.
