Muscular Dystrophy UK (previously known as the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign) was founded in 1959 and is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to fight muscle-wasting conditions. We bring together more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions affecting around 110,000 children and adults in the UK.


Current opportunities

As an Ambassador you will be a representative for Muscular Dystrophy UK. You will use your influence and contacts with local small businesses and individuals your local area to help build Muscular Dystrophy UK networks and fundraising partnerships. You will be confident in speaking about the cause and the work of the charity; developing relationships with key supporters and individuals as part of the process. Raising awareness of who we are and what we do is very important to the charity so we are looking for a proactive volunteer who will seek out speaking opportunities and make asks on behalf of the charity to attend events where further awareness can be raised.

You can become the local face of MDUK, raising vital funds and constantly raising the profile of the charity so that we can reach more people and their families affected by a muscle wasting condition. As a Volunteer Collection Box Co-ordinator, you will support the Regional Development Manager in your region to raise awareness and funds for the charity by placing and managing collection boxes within businesses in your local community.

Our fundraising groups are the local face of MDUK, raising vital funds and constantly raising the profile of the charity so that we can reach more people and their families affected by a muscle wasting condition. In order to be able to provide everyone the help and support they need; we are asking for your skills and enthusiasm to help us grow our fundraising groups! We need people to join our various groups across the UK and make Muscular Dystrophy UK the best-known local charity!

We are looking for volunteers who have a positive attitude and can make some noise! You will represent MDUK with great people skills and endless enthusiasm to help the Kiltwalkers complete their challenge. Specific tasks may include: Supporting participants with cheering and encouragement. Working with a team to make as much noise as you can. Representing Muscular Dystrophy UK with a positive attitude and top knotch people skills. What you’ll bring to the role: Enthusiasm for the cause and determination to make the event a success Great communication skills. A commitment to and understanding of disability issues, equal opportunities and diversity. The ability to work well with staff and other volunteers as part of a team. The opportunity is a one off volunteering role that will only require attendance on the day for 1-2 hours. (Sunday 11 August, 2024)
