Joint Ex-service Veterans Garden (SL)

Joint Ex-Service Veterans Garden is a charity working to develop a garden space in the Whitehill area of Hamilton to allow veterans to meet, improve social interaction and ultimately reduce the loneliness and social isolation that veterans are susceptible to. The charity also aims to develop other recreational opportunities for veterans such as excursions etc.

Current opportunity

The Joint Ex Service Veterans Garden is a refuge area for veterans from all services to come to sit and have a cuppa and a natter. We have a small group of volunteers who help us plant, grow and reap vegetables for distribution to veterans and veterans charities. Unfortunately, due to COVID and illness, our numbers have decreased and we are looking for like minded veterans to come and help us in the maintenance of the garden. We have a poly tunnel, seven raised beds outside the poly tunnel, a cafe with a toilet. There is no heavy work here, most of the present volunteers are in their seventies and all heavy work is done at weekends by more able bodied personnel. Pay us a visit and see if it is something you would like to be involved in.
