Connecting Young Carers

Charity registered in Scotland SC020501

Connecting Young Carers is a Highland wide charity working to increase awareness of young carers and the vital role they play. We help young carers to access the support, advice and help they need to support them in their caring role.
Young Carers are young people and children who provide care and support to a family member due to illness, disability or long term health condition. This might be a parent, brother, sister or another close family member.

Connecting Young Carers are here for 5-24 year olds to provide support, days out, fun opportunities and the chance to meet other young people in similar situations.

Current opportunities

Connecting Young Carers (CYC) are looking for a mini bus driver with a Cat D1 Licence to help with transporting Young Carers to a new after school club in Dingwall at the Dingwall Youth Cafe. The Volunteers would collect the mini bus from Fortrose Academy at 3.30 pm and transport the young carers to the CYC Dingwall Youth Cafe every second Tuesday, and return them home along the route back to Fortrose. The CYC DIngwall club runs from 4pm until 5.30 pm so the volunteers would be very welcome to join the activities within the club while they wait, or enjoy the free time until the return at 5.30pm finishing just after 6pm in Fortrose.

Connecting Young Carers (CYC) are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to assist them with their after-school group for primary age young carers in Alness every 1st and 2nd Monday of the month between 4pm and 5.30pm. The group will be held at The Place, High Street, Alness. The Activities Volunteer will support the Young Carers Community Worker with the organisation and running of the group.
