Dumfries and Galloway Youth Orchestra SCIO

Charity registered in Scotland SC048972

The DGYO welcomes all young players of orchestral instruments who live, work or study in Dumfries and Galloway and we offer opportunities for all levels of experience. Joining the orchestra will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to learn pieces and arrangements from the main orchestral repertoire. Together we will develop our playing skills in a way that motivates, inspires and encourages all of us valuing everyone’s contribution in a true celebration of music making. The DGYO will not only enhance your music skills but also provide you with the opportunity to develop your listening, teamwork, analytical, creativity and communication skills. You will meet other musicians from across the region and play together as a full orchestra as well as practise in small groups with expert tuition from our professional volunteers.

Current opportunity

Dumfries & Galloway Youth Orchestra (DGYO) is looking for a new trustee in order to enhance the skills, diversity and experience of the board. DGYO is an orchestra for talented young musicians living, working or in education in the region. Established in 2018, DGYO provides young musicians with a wonderful opportunity to play in an orchestra with students from across the region and to receive first class tuition and direction from experienced teachers and professionals. Presently activities are curtailed by the pandemic, but it is hoped to start rehearsals again this summer. We are ideally looking for a new trustee who will bring energy, enthusiasm and expertise to the charity to help it develop a forward-looking musical education strategy and have knowledge of one or more of the following, namely: finance, education, music, marketing, HR, fundraising, income generation, legal, partnerships and ICT. A more full role and person description is available on application to the secretary.
