Action in Mind is a community mental health charity supporting people experiencing low to moderate symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression and people living with different chronic mental health conditions such as bipolar, borderline personality or obsessive compulsive disorders. We work across the Forth Valley, central Scotland, which includes urban areas around the cities and towns of Stirling, Falkirk and Alloa. We help people towards better mental health and well-being, and to lead lives without fear of mental health stigma and discrimination.
Action in Mind is a local mental health charity supporting people living with low to moderate, and severe and enduring mental health conditions across Forth Valley. Our services are focused on supporting people towards improved wellbeing and recovery, and for people with chronic and enduring mental illness, we support them in self-managing their symptoms and mental health to live safely and independently.
The aim of this role is to work within the AiM fundraising committee to plan, promote and coordinate the running of charity fundraisers to raise funds for Action in Mind. Events could include: charity runs, bake sales, fayres etc. Responsibilities may include:
Prior to Event:
• Help to identify & obtain event space
• Event promotion (distribute leaflets, flyers etc)
• Obtain prizes and/or stall holders where applicable
On the Day:
• Sell entry tickets, raffles tickets etc.
• Make hot beverages & collect associated monies for these
• Assist with set-up/tidy up of event
• Lead a stall (where applicable)
• Be a go-to person to assist with any guest queries, help stallholders etc.
Volunteers are expected to commit to 2-3 hours per fortnight for a period of 12 months.
Provide maintenance and DIY support in and around the Action in Mind office building. This is an exciting opportunity to put your skills to good use and help contribute to the success of a local mental health charity.
This role will require the volunteer to carry out various maintenance tasks and odd jobs in and around the Action in Mind building. These tasks may include:
>fixing equipment and fences
>basic DIY, electrical and plumbing tasks
>general site upkeep
This opportunity is FLEXIBLE and, the maintenance/handyperson will be expected to assist with maintenance tasks as and when required.
Work with the Administrator to provide admin and secretarial support on behalf of Action in Mind. This is an exciting opportunity to help contribute to the success of a local mental health charity.
This role will require the Admin Volunteer to provide support to the Administrator and other staff members as and when required. This opportunity is FLEXIBLE as the Admin Volunteer will provide administration holiday cover and secretarial support. The core responsibilities of this role include:
> Answering the phone, directing calls, dealing with enquiries in the Administrator's absence.
> Answering the door, providing hospitality if required.
> Monitoring stationery stock levels.
> Checking and putting away stationery deliveries and checking of delivery sheets.
> Maintaining the booking room diary.
> Labeling, stamping, filling envelopes for mailshots.
> Taking initial enquiries, through the door enquiries providing information, advice and signposting.
Due to the nature of the role, the Admin Volunteer will have regular contact with the people referred to Action in Mind's services and therefore must maintain high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
