Current opportunities

Are you a good listener with an empathetic, professional and methodical approach? Do you have two hours a week to support vulnerable adults with myalgic encephalomyelitis (M.E.)/chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)? Action for M.E.’s UK-wide advocacy service, expanding in Scotland, supports adults with M.E./CFS to understand their rights, make informed choices, and have their views and wishes heard and respected, dealing with issues including health, social care, housing and employment. You’ll work entirely online/by phone to meet and represent clients, agree an action plan, undertake research, contact professionals and more. Full training, support and supervision provided by our experienced, friendly team.

Action for ME’s Information, support and advocacy service supports people with ME. We are now recruiting Volunteer Advocates who will help to support people to advocate on issues that relate to their ME or barriers that arise from living with ME. Volunteers will work alongside our specialist advocacy service. This service works with people who have a diagnosis of ME. Advocates give support to people so they feel they are not alone in taking action to say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain the services they need. We will provide training via zoom and on-going support and skills development. Volunteers need to be over 18 and live in Scotland. Volunteers will work from home and use email and phone calls to work with clients. Anyone interested in applying should contact Avril McLean, Advocacy Senior Practitioner – Scotland by emailing advocacy@actionforme.org.uk.
