One Step Borders - Befriending Programme

One Step Borders supports young people in the Scottish Borders, with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

We do this by:
Offering free 1:1 support with the individual.
Raising awareness and spreading knowledge about mental health.
Supporting families with a young person experiencing difficulties with their mental health and/ or emotional well being.


Current opportunity

Full training provided, support young people in your local community or virtually, by providing practical support through shared hobbies, skills and interests. Role Description : Offering young people practical support. Helping the young person access or maintain community activities i.e., health services, shops, parks and community centres. Interacting with young people through an interest you have in common i.e., music, art, gardening, reading, animals, gaming, coding, sports, cooking etc. Giving young people support with issues which concern them. Like providing information about organisations that could help them with things like housing, benefits, employment, or education opportunities.
