Children's Hearings Scotland (Grampian Area)

We recruit, train and support volunteer Panel Members who make legal decisions in children’s hearings, and volunteer Area Support Teams (ASTs) who provide support and guidance to Panel Members locally. You may have heard of us being referred to as the Children’s Panel too.


Current opportunities

Panel Practice Advisors are responsible for selecting and recommending Panel Members for appointment. They also regularly observe Panel Members within children's hearings and feedback so improvements can be made. Their goal is to support Panel Members through feedback to ensure the strongest possible decisions are being made for children and young people. We are looking for volunteer Area Conveners to provider local leadership for our Area Support Team in Aberdeenshire. This role involves managing a team of volunteers and developing new ways of working for your area. You’ll be working with local partners, communicating with Panel Members and leading on national improvements at the local level. Supporting the local Area Convener, Deputes help manage a team of volunteers, working with local partners and engaging with Panel Members. We need strong communicators who are enthusiastic and committed to securing the rights of children and young people.
