NODA Ayrshire works to support members of communities across Ayrshire to help each other at the end of life. We are a registered charity made up of compassionate volunteer companions who kindly volunteer their time to sit with people who are dying in their final hours. Our volunteers provide companionship and a listening ear to anyone who needs support to ensure no-one is left feeling alone or isolated. We are currently looking for more board members/ Charity Trustees with a wide range of skills and experience, to join our committed and passionate team, providing governance and strategic direction. To enable the organisation to meet its aims, Trustees should perform the following functions: Set and maintain the vision, mission and values of the organisation. Develop direction, strategy and planning. Ensure the organisation has the structure and resources for its work. Establish policies and procedures to govern organisational activity, including guidance for the board, volunteers and staff. Establish systems for reporting and monitoring. Manage risk and ensure compliance and accountability with the governing document, external regulators and the law. Make certain that the financial affairs of the organisation are conducted properly and are accurately reported. NODA Ayrshire works to support members of the community to help each other at the end of life. We offer support across the three Ayrshire Local Authority areas. The volunteer companion will provide bedside support/vigiling to those who are dying and alone and provide support or respite to those with families who need it. They will work fluidly, responding promptly to WhatsApp messages on the Rota Chat and replying whenever they can help. They will respond to emails promptly. They will read the guidelines in this role description and adhere to them at all times. They will attend training. They will provide evaluation feedback sheets to the Service Manager (lead) after training, and after each vigil. In addition they must provide details to the lead after any particularly challenging situations and confirm once they have received peer support, after each vigil. Main Responsibilities 1 To vigil and/or support any person that requires it following a referral being received. 2 To operate at all times within the guidelines and the policies, practice and ethos of No-one Dies Alone Ayrshire. 3 To regularly engage with the Service Manage through promptly responding to communications as soon as possible. 4 Maintain strict confidentiality, for all parties, and to sign and adhere to the confidentiality agreement. 5 To read through and watch the Samaritan’s training on listening (details provided below). 6 To familiarise themselves with Health Protection Scotland (HPS) guidance on infection control procedures and adhere to them. 7 The Volunteer Companion, in common with all staff and volunteers, has a duty to protect supported individuals from abuse and to report any concerns immediately to the lead, and where appropriate to the police. 8 All volunteers also have a duty to ensure they comply with requirements under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. They should familiarise themselves with the organisation’s policies and procedures and work within the policy framework including Confidentiality, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Code of Conduct.

No-one Dies Alone Ayrshire is a registered charity providing compassionate care to people in communities across Ayrshire who are alone and dying. Our experienced volunteers help people by being there in their final hours, offering a break and support to those with families who need it. We offer our support free of charge and rely on alternative funding and events, which we organise from time to time. We are looking for volunteers to assist at local events. NODa Ayrshire (No-one Dies Alone) are looking for volunteers to operate stalls at events handing out leaflets and spreading awareness. We can't underestimate how crucial this role is to helping us reach people who aren't on social media but need our services. Full training and support offered and travel expenses paid. What you will be doing: • Engage with the public by operating a stall and handing out leaflets • Set up and break down on event days. • Ensure the safety and enjoyment of the visiting general public. • May also involve supporting people who visit the stall. Volunteering can be a rewarding and much valued service and has many benefits including meeting new people and gaining new skills.

NODA are currently seeking a Treasurer to help manage their accounts, especially to produce committee reports and finance reports for the end of the financial year. The successful applicant will have experience in this area and be able to upload reports to the online system.
