Food Train Connects provides a one to one support services for older people who are no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty or disability. We help older people to age well, live well and eat well.

Food Train Connects provides a one to one grocery shopping services for older people who are no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty or disability. Our Connects Shopping Friends service is a fantastic way to make an impact on the lives of older people in your community. Our aim is to support older people to eat well, age well and live well. Becoming a Food Train Connects Shopping Friend is rewarding and it makes a huge difference to people’s lives. It’s amazing the impact that regular support with grocery shopping can have on someone who is isolated or lonely. If you want to make sure that an older person is able to live well in their own home this is a great opportunity to do so. The Role: • Contact the older person you are matched with on a regular basis, usually weekly, to obtain their shopping list, carry out their shopping and then deliver to their home, putting away if necessary. • Submit brief records, receipts for payment and to report any matters of concern to staff • Keep within the boundaries of the role • To inform Food Train Connects Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints • To maintain confidentiality • To represent Food Train in a professional manner to our members and the wider community

Our Connects Phone Friends service is a fantastic way to make an impact on the lives of older people in your community. Our aim is to support older people to eat well, age well and live well. Becoming a Food Train Connects Phone Friend is rewarding and it makes a huge difference to people’s lives. It’s amazing the impact that regular phone call can have on someone who is isolated or lonely. If you want to make sure that an older person is able to live well in their own home this is a great opportunity to do so. The Role: • Contact the older person you are matched with on a regular basis, usually weekly, for a blether on the phone. • Submit brief records and to report any matters of concern to staff • Keep within the boundaries of the role • To inform Food Train Connects Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints • To maintain confidentiality • To represent Food Train in a professional manner to our members and the wider community

Food Train Connects provides a one to one befriending service for older people by visiting them in their own home for a friendly chat and some company on a weekly basis. Our Food Train Connects Befriending service is a fantastic way to make an impact on the lives of older people in your community. Our aim is to support older people to age well and live well. Becoming a Food Train Connects Shopping Friend is rewarding and it makes a huge difference to people’s lives. It’s amazing the impact that a regular befriending visit can have on someone who is isolated or lonely. If you want to make sure that an older person is able to live well in their own home this is a great opportunity to do so. The Role: • Provide an effective befriending service for your befriendee . • Spend time with your befriendee, listen, chat and discuss various topics. o Keep within the boundaries of the role o To inform Food Train Connects Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints o To maintain confidentiality o To represent Food Train in a professional manner to our members and the wider community

The volunteer cook will be matched with an older person living in their area. They will provide a portion of a home cooked meal once a week, deliver it to the older person and stay for a chat if required. This meal share activity has a very important befriending element to it as many if our members may be socially isolated and will value having a local connection within their community.
