Current opportunities

Dundonald Castle is a 14th Century hilltop fortified ruin which is looked after on a daily basis by The Friends of Dundonald Castle SCIO, who also manage the attraction’s Visitor Centre. We are currently looking for Education Volunteers to assist with themed education workshops for both school pupils, as well as groups of all ages. Every year Friends of Dundonald Castle host around 100 educational workshops with topics including Celts, Romans, Vikings, Knights & Castles and Jacobites. Volunteers would assist in running activities, handing out and collecting items, setting up and cleaning at the end. Volunteers will have the opportunity to explore areas which interest them.

We are currently looking for Volunteer Tour Guides to take members of the public on tours of the castle. If you are a people person with a passion for history this could be the opportunity for you. Tasks will include: - Telling the fascinating story of the castle and the castle hill - Undertaking castle opening and closing procedures and daily cleaning

We are currently looking for volunteers for our cafe. Full day and half day shifts are available and tasks will include: - Greeting/welcoming customers - Helping with serving customers - Keeping the visitor centre clean and tidy - Daily set up and clean up - Preparing food and drinks - Restocking and compiling shopping lists - Assisting regular groups in the cafe including Knit n Natter, Scrabble, History Group and Walking Group
