Description

Mentors will meet with the young person for a couple of hours each week, supporting them to make informed lifestyle choices and encourage them to participate in diversionary activities. In addition, mentors will establish a positive relationship with the young person's parent(s) to ensure that the young person's best interests are at the forefront of the programme. Mentors should be caring, supportive, a good listener, non-judgemental and have a genuine interest in the wellbeing of young people.

Organisation aims and objectives

The aim of bellshill & mossend YMCA si to provide support and information to residents within North Lanarkshire. The YMCA premises hosts a wide range of different activities including a gym/fitness suite, cafe, childcare provision and support programmes. (a) To promote Christ's kingdom among young people. (b) To safeguard its Christian basis, purpose, aims and character. (c) To formulate and implement development policies. (d) To promote events by which the aims, purposes and program of Bellshill and Mossend YMCA may be furthered, in keeping with the constitution of the Scottish National Council of YMCAs as (hereinafter referred to as the Scottish National Council) as amended from time to time. (e) To improve the quality of the life of the young people of the community through Christian example and by providing facilities and activities of a social and recreational nature. Restrictions

training only lasts 1-2 hours per week if group sessions or can be done in an overall 3hour 1-1 session.
Experience required: Mentors should be caring, supportive, a good listener, non-judgemental and have a genuine interest in the wellbeing of young people.
Travel details: The mentor will meet the young person at the young person's home, then go out for a coffee / chat / activity. All out of pocket expenses will be covered by the YMCA.
