Welcome and Reception Volunteer

Description

Based at one of the main entrance reception desks, you will be the friendly face to welcome children, families and visitors to Edinburgh's children's hospital and assist with their visit. Tasks will include:
•Greeting people entering the building and assisting them as needed.
•Directing/way finding in conjunction with NHS volunteers.
•Providing information about ECHC and how our services can support their visit.
•Promoting ECHC events and fundraising activities.
•Receiving donations.

Organisation aims and objectives

We support and complement the work of Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children (The Sick Kids) as well as other children’s healthcare settings across Scotland.

Restrictions

Travel details: This role is based at The Royal Hospital for Children & Young People, Little France, Edinburgh. The site is well serviced by Lothian bus routes from the city centre, Sheriffhall Park & Ride and other areas. Some limited parking may also be available.

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteers can claim travel expenses (public transport or mileage to maximum £10 per day) by completing an expense claim form and submitting via their role manager. Expenses are paid directly to volunteer's nominated account in next pay run after approval.
Training details: All volunteers will complete an online induction and have further induction/on the job training when they start. Further training is offered to volunteers from time to time, both online and in person.

Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home. Our preventative services address the difficulty older people face getting their weekly grocery shopping, doing jobs around the house and the growing isolation that comes with failing health. We also aim to provide a wide range of supported volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Would you like to volunteer to help older people in your local community? We are looking for folk to volunteer to carry out and deliver a grocery shop for an older person on a regular basis.
