Cohousing Scotland is a charity supporting innovative housing solutions. We act as a support forum for local Cohousing groups, fostering best practice, promoting opportunities and providing guidance to stakeholders. As a charity fully operated by volunteers, we are looking for the clear and strategic mind of a Finance & HR trustee to help us get ready to apply for funding and employ staff.

Aberdeen Civic Society have great opportunities for people to help volunteering as Executive Committee Members. The Executive Committee work to advance the objectives of the Society which are: • To stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the city of Aberdeen and its surroundings. • To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general amenity and historic interest. • To encourage high standards of architectural planning. • The Society pursues these aims by means of illustrated lectures, discussions, visits and walkabouts. An important feature of the Society's work is its Awards and Commendations Scheme. Through this, encouragement and recognition are given to those who have contributed to the amenity of the city by means of new buildings or the restoration and preservation of old buildings. The Society keeps itself informed on planning applications made to the City Council. It submits comments and suggestions, and lodges objections when proposals are considered detrimental to the city. Committee members are sought to help with the following activities: • to arrange the annual programme of talks • to organise the Society's social events- the annual Supper and Summer Outing • to research, discuss and respond to current Aberdeen City planning applications and to participate in public consultations on urban planning • to improve the Society's communication with the public through social and other media A fantastic opportunity to help with the preservation, development and improvement of features of general amenity and historic interest in Aberdeen. Fancy making a difference? We are run entirely by volunteers who give up their own time to help us. There are two main types of volunteers: the uniformed Leaders and the Executive Committee. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship. The Scout Association award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. The approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering with Scouts, while respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life. In Scouting, our adults have a responsibility to make sure that the Programme is fun and exciting. We must also make sure that it is safe. The Scout Association’s policies, rules, code of behaviour, advice on Child Protection and safety policy are there to ensure our young people stay safe while they enjoy themselves and learn. Volunteering for Scouting is one of the most fun, rewarding and positive things you can ever do. BECYCLE Workshop SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation – charity number: SC053291) is a small, wholly volunteer operated and donations based community bike workshop that provides a free place to access practical help, education, learning and advice for maintaining and repairing bikes. The workshop also provides free bikes to children (u18) and loans out bikes to anyone, with a fully returnable deposit system. It is currently open twice a week (8 hours), every week of the year, no matter the weather. Every person that volunteers at the workshop becomes a bike mechanic first and foremost - no matter how much experience you have just now with bikes or tools. You’ll learn quickly and surprise yourself with the amount you can take onboard - and you’ll be well supported by volunteers with decades of experience at fixing bikes and helping people. Don’t worry though about being the odd one out, none of us get paid and never will. In addition further roles we are looking for specialists in are; - Accountant - Fundraising - Graphic Design - Social Media Manager - Videographer On top of the two in-person sessions (Monday and Wednesday 4-8pm), most volunteers offer their time and expertise in a variety of areas that keep the workshop ticking over, or assist specific functions that align with their background and experience such as driving, photography or social media. We are formed of a group of dozens of volunteers from various backgrounds, ages, life experiences and nationalities. Our greatest strength is the trust we have in each other and encouraging the individual talents of each volunteer, that help make the workshop what it is today. Volunteers have also used their time and work at BECYCLE to leverage themselves into new careers, university courses and support job applications. Expect lots of social events, casual group rides, BBQ’s, bonfires, days at the beach, eating together, nights out, meeting lots of new people and getting dangerously addicted to bikes….
