Counsellors/ Play Therapists for Children and Young People

You might have heard of Grampian Regional Equality Council before. GREC has been working to promote positive community relations in North East Scotland for over 39 years. We works to support individuals who have been impacted by racism, other forms of discrimination, prejudices or inequality of society.

We are expanding our Counselling Service and looking to recruit more compassionate psychotherapists/counsellors to support our children & young people in Aberdeen city and shire with Play Therapy and Counselling.

Are you compassionate for humanity and equality? The new project of ours are to support the children and young people settled in Scotland due to the war conflicts (New Scots) and other circumstances. As children and young people are considered the future of the society, our team of volunteering therapists would have the opportunity to make a difference, one child at a time, together.

-Essential Qualifications:
• Counselling Skills Certificate, and
• Diploma in Children & Young People Counselling (Qualified or Trainees)

A couple of hours weekly of your time will provide such a safe space for individual young children therapeutically, significantly.

Restrictions

Experience required: Essential Qualifications: Counselling Skills Certificate, and Diploma in Children & Young People Counselling (Qualified or Trainees)
Travel details: The in-house trainings include the unconscious bias, equality, how to work therapeutically in an interpreter-assisted therapy etc. CYP supervisor(s) have been hired and the costs covered to run the monthly CYP group supervision. The project will start from October this year in Aberdeen city and shire area. The commutes (bus or petrol) will be reimbursed accordingly. She will be very happy to connect with you and explore the workability.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: All agreed expenses are reimbursed. The public transport and the fuel are reimbursed accordingly without delay. The materials and therapy resources are prepared and covered by GREC.
Training details: Relevant guidance, training and excellent support is provided to all volunteers. Includes: Induction on different GREC services; Unconscious Bias; Working in interpreter-assisted Therapy; Awareness of Culture, Race and Ethnicity; Trauma etc

Home visiting volunteer

Home-Start Glasgow South is a family support charity based in Glasgow South. We work with families, with at least one child up to the age of 8, who are struggling to cope with the challenges of parenting along with sometimes difficult personal circumstances. Our volunteers visit families for 2-3 hours each week in their own home to provide practical and emotional support. If a family is isolated, they may need support to go to a local group. An overwhelmed parent may need help to organise the household or it could be that a mum or dad just need someone to talk to. A volunteer can make a big difference in a couple of hours a week. Volunteering in the family home can also include Perinatal Support (pregnancy -2 years) and English Tutoring. The support and friendship you can provide is invaluable and can help take away some of the stresses of day to day life, enabling parents to cope better with daily tasks and improve their confidence, giving their children the best possible start in life.

Volunteer Trainee Adviser

DENNY AND DUNIPACE CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU ARE SEEKING TO RECRUIT 10 VOLUNTEERS. To help provide effective and efficient advice to members of the public, carry out admin duties and develop the bureau. Main Duties include: •Interviewing clients – listen to the client and let the client explain the problem. Help the client to clarify the issues by exploring the problem and asking questions •Giving information - Use Advisernet and other reference materials to find the relevant information, communicate that information to clients •Giving advice – explain the information to the client and the choices that the client has, so they can decide what to do •Give practical help – Fill in forms on paper or online, do benefit checks using appropriate calculation tools, speak to or contact other agencies on behalf of the client, with the client’s consent. •Complete clear case records •Recognise the root cause of problems and participate in taking action •Carry out admin duties. •Carry out reception duties. Denny and Dunipace CAB run a comprehensive training programme for Trainee Advisers which provides support and mentoring with an experienced Adviser. In return, your travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Bureau and there is access to external training once all initial training is completed. Many Advisers have gained useful experience and qualifications whilst volunteering for Denny and Dunipace CAB which have helped them gain employment.

Retail Volunteer - Saltcoats

Volunteers are involved in a wide range of roles and day-to-day activities that support the running of each store for two hours or more a week. Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with store housekeeping and administration, sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing items. Do you have specific retail skills to donate? We're also looking for volunteers with skills and ideas around visual merchandising, identifying stock generation channels and raising awareness of our charity shops. Using your local knowledge, you could help to maximise the shop’s potential. Customer Service Volunteer

Resonate Together is a local charity which has been running for over 13 years. Resonate run various groups dependant on the skills individuals bring, from various art groups to chess club & gardening. They also provide meeting rooms for outside organisations. They have grown not only in size, resulting in a larger premises, but also their model of working. Many who come to Resonate Together start by saying they do not have any skills. This can be for so many reasons, and one of the core challenges being personal confidence. Over the last decade, they have listened, learned and experienced the incredible development of so many people - they know that ‘skills’ can be learned and we know that every individual that comes to Resonate Together has inner qualities that will benefit our community. Resonate Together's Customer Service Volunteer role includes meeting members, new and old. Based at the Coffee & Tea area you would not only be welcoming members but inviting them to have a cuppa, and quite often in Resonate, a piece of cake! This gives you a chance to get to know the members in a relaxed informal setting. 1-1 support & training is provided. Minimum of 3 hours per week. Wednesday and/or Thursday Morning & Afternoon. They are expanding into Friday, & Saturday sessions too. As the Customer Service Volunteer, you may be the first person new members meet as they come through the door. They would therefore like you to be welcoming, friendly, and positive. As Resonate welcomes people from all walks of life discrimination is not tolerated. Good listening skills are a must, as well as of course, knowing your way round a kettle! As with any member of Resonate we welcome adults from all walks of life, as long as you have the skills and/or the experience (through work, volunteering or life) to take on the role. References will be taken. During your time with Resonate you may be interested in taking on a role requiring a PVG. Please do not hesitate to ask for further information on police checks.
