SOHTIS is a leading anti-human trafficking NGO in Scotland. Human trafficking is happening in all 32 local authorities in Scotland, on each of our doorsteps. Hidden and misunderstood, We are committed to bringing freedom to victims and survivors of human trafficking in Scotland. At our heart is compassion and so we go the extra mile, tenacity in our pursuit of justice, dignity expressed in equity and respect for every person’s journey. We have an experienced team who are active in service delivery and strategic local and national policy.

This is an opportunity for passionate proactive students to engage with this issue, develop values-based leadership skills, and bring awareness to their communities. In this role, you will be able to select from a range of activities and challenges including advocacy-based work, fundraising challenges, policy development, community building and more.

We are looking to recruit volunteers who can assist us from all areas of higher education who are keen to be part of a community of other like-minded individuals and who are willing to lead the way and inspire social justice for trafficking victims.

Frequency and commitment details

Three compulsory short online sessions per semester plus added hours of your own time, variable per project chosen.

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience or skills required. Just a passion to advocate for a slavery-free Scotland.
Travel details: No travel required.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses details: We can cover any of the required programme advertising resources and any small additional needs where these are agreed in advance.
Training details: We provide a three-part supportive training programme for all students. This consists of an introductory training/briefing as well as a mid-way review and well-being training session and then a final review and training for next steps.
