Volunteer Driver - Edinburgh

Description

Purpose and Aims of the role

Who Cares? Scotland facilitate regular groups and events for Care Experience people

One of the biggest barriers our members face in attending our groups and activities is the ability to get to us. Sometimes our members need a little bit of assistance to get to and from their groups and as a volunteer driver, you would be providing the means for someone to be able to attend the groups which are of importance to them to connect, make friends, talk about issues important to them and have fun.

We are looking for volunteers who have access to their own car and can help to enhance our Care Experienced members experience of attending our regular groups and events by providing transport to and from these fortnightly groups.

Our volunteer drivers will assist in collecting young people from their homes to the venue in Edinburgh and home again every second Tuesday. Pickups will start from 5pm (depending on location) and drop offs will start after the group finishes at 8pm.

This role will involve interacting with young people and you will have the opportunity to stay at the group to engage with young people and support their involvement.

We provide all out of pocket expenses, so your mileage would be reimbursed at £0.45 per mile. A PVG is required for this role. Access to your own car, business insurance and driving checks will also be needed.

Who Cares? Scotland is a people organisation. We invest in our people, our relationships and in a positive working culture. It’s important to us that our volunteer team is included, involved and motivated to change society.

We aim to recruit people with excellent qualities from a wide variety of backgrounds who share in our mission. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with care experience.
