Description

We are delighted to be opening up an exciting opportunity to join the SOHTIS Board of Trustees. We believe that everyone deserves to live in freedom with dignity and respect and we are looking to recruit people who share our vision to partner with us in making that a reality for all.

SOHTIS is a leading anti-human trafficking NGO in Scotland. Human trafficking is happening in all 32 local authorities in Scotland, on each of our doorsteps. Hidden and misunderstood, At our heart is compassion and so we go the extra mile, tenacity in our pursuit of justice, dignity expressed in equity and respect for every person’s journey. We have an experienced team who are active in service delivery and strategic local and national policy.

Our Board is an essential part of our growing and dynamic organisation. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about justice and determined to advance human rights to join us as we embark on a new three year ambitious strategy.

SOHTIS s the leading anti-human trafficking organisation in Scotland. We believe everyone deserves to live in freedom with dignity and respect and we are committed to recovering of victims of human trafficking and the long-term support for survivors.

Frequency and commitment details

We request a commitment to: - act within the values of SOHTIS upholding the policies and procedures of the organisation • support the vision and mission of SOHTIS, championing it within your personal and professional community • use your skills, knowledge and expertise to further the SOHTIS mission • attend, in person or remotely, quarterly Board meetings • give an agreed time commitment to engage on specific areas of expertise between Board meetings • develop and maintain a sound knowledge of the work of SOHTIS and the social, political and economic environment in which it operates • make either a financial monthly donation or one off annual donation (no matter how small)

Experience required: We recruit Board Members who: • can demonstrate integrity, acceptance, leadership and compassion • are willing to commit time and effort to SOHTIS • will provide strategic vision • can demonstrate positive, independent judgement • have an ability to think creatively • are generous in sharing their networks and contacts • have experience in working effectively as part of a team
Travel details: Much of the involvement is done remotely via online meetings. Occasional in person attendance required.

Expenses details: Payment of reasonable travel expenses may be paid where in person attendance is required.
Training details: Training in human trafficking in Scotland Training on SOHTIS services Any other necessary training considered appropriate - dependent on existing skills and those identified as required.
