Description

Dunfermline and West Fife's very own Heritage Railway project, Lathalmond Railway Museum, is looking for volunteers within their newly refurbished museum. By becoming a Technical Volunteer, you will join an enthusiastic team preserving the railway heritage of Fife.
As a Technical Volunteer, you can take part in activities including:

  • Train maintenance
  • Building maintenance
  • Equipment restoration
  • DIY activities
  • And more
    Volunteers can choose which activities they would like to engage with and are welcome to bring any existing skills to help maintain, restore and promote the museum to allow local people to learn about Dunfermline and West Fife’s rich railway heritage.

Dunfermline and West Fife's very own Heritage Railway project, Lathalmond Railway Museum is located to the north of Dunfermline, on a shared site with the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum. With 2 operational railway lines operating frequently.

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience is needed for this role. Volunteers will be enthusiastic and interested in learning about the history of the museum and ideally will have some technical skills which can be applied to the restoration and maintenance of the railway museum.
Travel details: The museum is at M90, Commerce Park, Lathalmond, Dunfermline. It has parking available.
Minimum age: 18

Technical Set Up volunteer (Disco, Movies & Karaoke)

UNIQUE Friends Together is a Community Group based in Ayr in the south west of Scotland. Our purpose is to promote inclusivity and integration for young people aged 16 to 30 with additional support needs. We do this by organising and running safe and accessible social events and activities such as disco, karaoke, games, cinema, trips etc. New people are always welcome to come along to any of our events - we love seeing new faces. The group is run entirely by volunteers and managed by a small committee of five Trustees. Our trustees and event volunteers include parents/guardians of young people with ASN. We are looking for a volunteer who can provide the technical know how to set up equipment for our various social activities and events, for example discos, cinema/movie nights and karaoke. We have regular social events every second Friday evening with occasional activities happening from time to time. These events provide fun, friendship and social inclusion for the young people who come along. We are based in Heathfield Community Centre in Ayr and the events take place there. We need someone with the technical know how and a few hours to spare as a volunteer to help us make sure that we can deliver events as promised. Comradeship Circle Technical Support Volunteer

This role is to connect veterans to the group call, monitor the connection throughout and update the contact management database to help ensure the smooth running of the comradeship circles. Main task include: • Dialling in and welcoming callers to the circles • Ensuring circle attendance and notes are updated. • Reporting any concerns or issues with the circles to Supervisor. • Where possible, giving the Supervisor advanced notice of any absence. • From time to time, providing feedback and completing further training as necessary to support you and your volunteering role.

Alford Valley Community Railway is a charming and much loved narrow-gauge railway operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. We offer scenic train rides from the centre of the village, through the Golf Course to Haughton Park Station, providing a delightful and memorable experience for everyone. We rely on the hard work and dedication of our volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. About the Role: As a Volunteer HSE Advisor, you'll play a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for volunteers, passengers, and visitors. This part-time, voluntary role allows you to utilise your knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures to contribute significantly to the safe operation of our railway. You'll provide expert advice, conduct risk assessments, and implement measures to minimise potential hazards. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct regular risk assessments of railway operations, identifying potential hazards and recommending effective controls. • Develop and maintain comprehensive Health and Safety policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with relevant legislation and best practices. • Provide expert advice and guidance to volunteers, staff, and contractors on Health and Safety matters. • Investigate any accidents or incidents, analysing root causes and proposing corrective actions. • Oversee the implementation of safety-related training programs for volunteers and staff. • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with established procedures and identifying areas for improvement. • Stay up-to-date with relevant Health and Safety legislation and industry best practices. • Report directly to the designated Management Representative on Health and Safety matters. • Personal Track Safety Course is mandatory (training will be given).
