SCAA Collection Can Volunteer

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) saves and improves lives across Scotland, delivering expert paramedic care at the scene of time-critical emergencies. With your help, we can continue fundraising and raising awareness to support our life-saving work.

We are welcoming new collection can volunteers to help us manage our pre-existing locations and find new ones. We have hundreds of cans in cities, rural areas and the islands. Volunteers select the areas they'd like to support us in. While the role is flexible we ask that you can access a local bank.

We offer initial training and ongoing support. Many bank branch locations have coin counters which make it simple, a few rural locations may require the cans counted. Good numeracy skills are needed in that case.

Organisation aims and objectives

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) saves and improves lives across Scotland, delivering expert paramedic care at the scene of time-critical emergencies. Working in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), SCAA is an integral part of Scotland’s frontline emergency response network, responding to trauma incidents and medical emergencies across the country, covering an area of more than 30,000 square miles. As Scotland’s only charity air ambulance, SCAA is funded by the people of Scotland, primarily through donations, fundraising, events and our life-saving lottery.

Expenses details: We encourage volunteers to reclaim the travel expenses they incur during volunteering.
Training details: Welcome induction about SCAA and our history. Specialised SCAA Collection Can training. Named contact with Community Fundraising Staff for support and queries. Regular updates and training.

Student Ambassador Programme - Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland

SOHTIS is a leading anti-human trafficking NGO in Scotland. Human trafficking is happening in all 32 local authorities in Scotland, on each of our doorsteps. Hidden and misunderstood, We are committed to bringing freedom to victims and survivors of human trafficking in Scotland. At our heart is compassion and so we go the extra mile, tenacity in our pursuit of justice, dignity expressed in equity and respect for every person’s journey. We have an experienced team who are active in service delivery and strategic local and national policy. This is an opportunity for passionate proactive students to engage with this issue, develop values-based leadership skills, and bring awareness to their communities. In this role, you will be able to select from a range of activities and challenges including advocacy-based work, fundraising challenges, policy development, community building and more. We are looking to recruit volunteers who can assist us from all areas of higher education who are keen to be part of a community of other like-minded individuals and who are willing to lead the way and inspire social justice for trafficking victims. This is a great opportunity to join our passionate team and work closely with several members of our diverse team.

Community First Aider

Your Community Needs You! Help save lives in your community by volunteering to become a Community First Aider. Our Group gets asked to cover community events delivering first aid cover. We are also out and about delivering First Aid where required on Saturday nights in Ayr and Prestwick; covering first aid for all pubs and night clubs along side street pastors, Police Scotland and taxi marshals with CCTV cover and in radio contact with all. STEM Ambassador Programme

Interested in inspiring young people in the STEM subjects? Join a national network of 32,000 STEM Ambassadors in the UK and 5,000 in Scotland! STEM Ambassadors volunteer to inspire the next generation and help young people to develop the skills, confidence and mindset to build successful futures in STEM. You can volunteer as a STEM Ambassador to give career talks, run STEM clubs, provide advice on STEM subjects, run STEM workshops, help young people with STEM competitions - anything really which will ignite their imagination. STEM Ambassadors can find their own opportunities to volunteer or can search the STEM Ambassador digital platform for both face to face and online requests placed by teachers and community groups. The platform will connect you with the teacher/community group making the request and you can message to arrange the activity. All of your volunteering can be recorded on the platform to build a detailed summary of what you have been involved with. All STEM Ambassadors undergo a PVG Disclosure check and undertake online induction training before being authorised to work with young people. The programme is funded through the UK Government, with SSERC being the local Scottish delivery partner. SSERC will provide you with regular updates, training sessions and networking opportunities to keep your knowledge up to date and relevant for working in schools and community groups.
