Supporter - Perinatal Mental Health

  • VO101055

Description

We are looking for volunteers to help support families where one or both parents are being impacted by perinatal mental health problems. This could be depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD or any other mental health issues that can occur as the result of pregnancy or the birth of a baby.

Ideally for our support group we would like people to have some lived experience of a perinatal mental health problem.
At the support group we help parents through their journey. This might just be listening, signposting to other organisations, cuddling a baby whilst parents have a hot drink etc.

Our Parenting Multiples Group (run in conjunction with Stenhousemuir FC Community Foundation) offers a slightly different type of support and is not necessarily for parents experiencing mental health issues. This group is for parents of multiple babies which brings a very different dynamic to parenting. In this group you will assist setting up a play area, making teas & coffees, playing with children, interacting with babies.

Organisation aims and objectives

PANDAS is a charity with a mission: ‘To be the UK’s most recognised and trusted support service for families and their networks who may be suffering with perinatal mental illness, including prenatal (antenatal) and postnatal depression.’ Our aim is to make sure no parent, family or carer feels alone. We have a variety of support services available to ensure help is delivered in a way that is right for you. No one suffering any form of mental illness should feel they’re on their own. We offer motivational, educational and positive content through our social media channels, which adds to our value for the parents who need our help the most. PANDAS Foundation values difference and diversity and does not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, sexual preference, orientation, marital status, race, religion, colour, national origin, disability, heritage or political belief.
